At Artemis Place, girls learn how to be a part of a supportive and caring community.
They learn to ensure their own needs are met and to resolve conflict without aggression or giving in. They learn skills to stay safe and strong in a world where substance abuse, risk-taking behaviour, violence and sexual exploitation are far too prevalent. They learn basic life skills such as cooking and nutrition, and are supported to navigate social systems when necessary. Counselling happens in groups and individually, often informally as girls and staff do crafts together or go on outings. Counsellors advocate for girls as the girls learn to advocate for themselves.
