The Artemis Program

Life gives many valuable lessons, and wherever possible, personal growth and career-oriented work is matched with BC’s curriculum expectations to give academic credit for real-life learning.  Opportunities are made to fill academic and knowledge gaps to provide a firm foundation for continued learning.  Each student has an educational program designed specifically for her.

With this integrated approach to supporting girls at risk, Artemis Place is uniquely able to transform the most challenged girls.

At Artemis Place, girls learn how to be a part of a supportive and caring community.
They learn to ensure their own needs are met and to resolve conflict without aggression or giving in.  They learn skills to stay safe and strong in a world where substance abuse, risk-taking behaviour, violence and sexual exploitation are far too prevalent.  They learn basic life skills such as cooking and nutrition, and are supported to navigate social systems when necessary.  Counselling happens in groups and individually, often informally as girls and staff do crafts together or go on outings.  Counsellors advocate for girls as the girls learn to advocate for themselves.
Our educational program is an innovative, online home-schooling program. Girls work at their own level and advance at their own pace with support from an Academic Coach at Artemis Place, as well as on-line teachers, each step of the way.
